HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | The Alabama A&M University football team wrapped up its Spring campaign on Saturday with the annual Maroon and White game at Louis Crews Stadium.
The Maroon team rallied to tie the game at 21 as
Xavier Lankford connected with
Dion Nelson Jr. with just over a minute to play in regulation.
With the game tied at 21, both teams had an opportunity to win the game in overtime.
The White team had the first possession, but a quarterback keeper at the 2 was stopped and the Maroon team capitalize.
Lankford sealed the game with a quick toss to the corner to
Duke Miller Jr. as the Maroon team won 28-21.
"It was a perfect day and the perfect situation as we had a lot going on, on campus today," Maynor said. "It was a great day to be a Bulldog! We had great weather and a great game. Overall, I am pleased. The number one key is that we got away injury free. We didn't have any major injuries. That is what the spring is for is to get the younger guys an opportunity to get some reps to see what they can do. The transfers that we brought in, in the spring, we wanted to get those guys out here to see them work. So now we will evaluate is what we need to do as we gear up for fall camp."
The Maroon and White Spring Game concluded a busy day on campus as the Alabama A&M baseball and softball programs played host to Mississippi Valley State and the Department of Athletics welcomed the addition of new head women's basketball coach Dawn Thornton.
Alabama A&M concluded its Spring practice slate on Saturday and now turn its attention to the season opener on Aug. 31 at Auburn.
