Torian Wins USATF U20 Championship

EUGENE, Ore. | Ana-Liese Torian continues her success on the track as Alabama A&M University student-athlete won the 100m hurdles on Thursday at the Nike Outdoor Nationals & USATF U20 Championships at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon.

Torian, a native Homewood, Ill., is the Alabama A&M women's outdoor track and field record holder in the event, earning the mark of 12.99 at the Music City Challenge on April 27. On Thursday, Torian won her heat, qualifying at 13.31, in a field consisting of hurdlers from USC, Villanova, UCF, Indiana State and North Carolina.

In the final round, Torian won the event, logging a time of 13.12 and besting Nonah Waldron from USC (13.32).

Torian is no stranger to the big stage, having competed at the NCAA Division I East First Round at Kentucky in May and nearly qualifying for the final round.

"There isn't much you can say about Ana-Liese," Alabama A&M head coach Andrew Murphy said. "She is a tremendous athlete, who has the desire to work and get better. I am proud of her accomplishments and I know she will continue to achieve more in the future."
