THE HILL | To complete its season-long four-match homestand, the Alabama A&M women's soccer team (1-6) is set to compete in a battle of the Bulldogs against South Carolina State University (0-8) on Thursday at the Bulldog Soccer Field. Match time has been moved up to 1 pm.  
 

The AAMU Bulldogs look to finish their home swing with a win, after dropping the last match against Northwestern State, 2-0. Anita Frederick-Sigaran, Chelsie Charles, Taylor McNeal and Jasmine Perez-Acosta are all tied for leading goal scorers, with one a piece. Frederick Sigaran paces the team in assists, tabbing two in the home-opening win against the University of West Georgia Wolves. Perez-Acosta leads the team in shots on goal with 10, followed by freshman Czaske Deane, with six. Sophomore Liliana Ribeiro has tallied 48 saves so far this season as goalkeeper.  
 

South Carolina State is searching for their first win, after dropping the eight matches of the season. They in their most recent competition, they recorded one shot on goal and six saves in their 5-0 road loss to Charleston Southern. Freshman Shannilea Schliffer leads SCSU in goals, as she was the lone scorer in their loss against Presbyterian College. Senior Alana Watts leads the team in shots on goal, with seven.  
 

Alabama A&M head coach Prince Borde is looking forward to a competitive match. "South Carolina State is playing well lately", he said. "They are coming into our game fired up. We will be ready to defend our house and go back to winning at home."  
 

The Bulldogs have not met since 2021, where AAMU blanked South Carolina State in a decisive 8-0 decision.
