THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University women's soccer team (1-6) fell to the Northwestern State Demons (2-4-1), 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.
The Bulldogs would get two early looks at the goal, in the sixth and seventh minutes, from Alicia Cohen and Jasmine Perez-Acosta. There would be no other on-target shots until in the 40th minute, NSU's Caroline Hilliard would get the ball to Emily Gundin who found the back of the net. The Lady Demons would go into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
In the 51st minute, Northwestern State would score the last goal of the match. Less than a minute later, junior Chelsie Charles would send the ball to the bottom right corner, but NSU's keeper would get hands on it. Cohen would get another look at the net after sending the ball to the top right corner of the net, but would be knocked out by the Demons.
Both teams recorded nine shots on the night, but the Bulldogs would have more shots on goal with four, compared to Northwestern State's two. The Lady Demons improve the all-time record against the Bulldogs to 2-0.
AAMU will host its final match of its four-game home stretch on Thursday, September 12 versus South Carolina State University at 3pm on the Bulldog Soccer Field. The match is free to the public.
