LOUISVILLE, Ky. | Laila Gaynor had a huge day winning the 400 meters and finishing second in the 200m, while
Bravin Kibitok and
Ezekiel Salama set school records during the first day of the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational on Friday.
Gaynor won the 400m with a new personal-best time of 54.62, defeating Takiyah Ferguson and Amiah Murry of Florida State and UAH, respectively. In the unseeded 200m, Gaynor claimed the second spot at 24.45.
Kibitok broke his own school record in the 800m, which was set two weeks ago at the Vanderbilt Invitational, as he finished 15
th with a time of 1:53.56. Meanwhile, Salama broke his own school record (previously 17.59m sent in 2024) with a personal-best toss of 17.69m in the weight throw.
Victoya Smith qualified for the women's 60m finals, with a time of 7.72, and
Amber Jamison placed eighth in the unseeded long jump, with a leap of 5.47m.
Ajanae Cressey finished tied for second in the women's unseeded high jump, recording a leap of 1.55m, while
Miahna Harden placed 10
th in the women's elite long jump at 5.54m.
On the men's side,
Dohnavon Hunt posted personal-best times in the unseeded 200m and the 60m. In the 60m, Hunt qualified for the finals in 6.93, and in the unseeded 200m, he placed 11
th in 22.03.
In addition,
Talil Atkins placed 10
th in the 400m, logging a time of 49.52.
