Walker Scores 20 Points in Bulldogs' First Conference Loss

JACKSON, Miss. | Kalia Walker scored 20 points in Thursday night's 65-55 loss to Jackson State. A fourth quarter surge led the Tigers past the Alabama A&M Bulldogs to give AAMU its first conference loss of the season.

While the contest was tight for the first three frames, with neither team earning a lead more than seven points, the Tigers went on a 17-5 run to close out the fourth quarter and kept the Bulldogs from tallying a field goal for more than eight minutes.

In addition to Walker's 20 points and five rebounds, Alisha Wilson added 11 points,13 rebounds and a team-high four steals for her seventh double-double of the season, and fifth in a row.

Jackson State saw three Tigers in double figures, led by Teleah Dilworth's 19 points and three steals. Jaileyah Cotton added 12 points and four assists, while Leianya Massenat tacked on 11 points and five rebounds. Zoe Cooper and Shalance Montoya crashed the boards six times to lead the Tigers defensive effort. The Tigers still lead the Bulldogs in the-all-time series (26-11) and have now won six straight match ups between the two.

Walker scored four more consecutive points to send Alabama A&M into a 10-4 run to enter the break ahead, 30-24.
A second-chance three pointer from Massenat opened the half for JSU but Wilson scored four straight points to take the largest Bulldog lead up to that point at 34-27.
JSU quickly narrowed the gap, coming within one point of the visitors with six and a half minutes remaining.
The score tied three more times, but the home team ended the quarter with a slim, one point lead (48-47).
Walker was the first to score in the final frame, capitalizing off a Tiger turnover and sinking a shot from beyond the arc.
Jackson State went on a 9-2 run, including a three-pointer from Tierney to force an AAMU stoppage.
JSU took its largest lead of the contest (63-53), and held AAMU to no field goals for over eight minutes.
