Alabama A&M Struggles Early, Falls on the Road to Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. | The Alabama A&M University men's basketball team struggle shooting the ball from the floor during the first seven minutes as Clemson built a huge lead and didn't look back in a 92-56 victory on Friday at Littlejohn Coliseum. 
 
Kintavious Dozier, PJ Eason and James Graham III each scored 10 points to pace Alabama A&M. Dozier also recorded two rebounds, while Eason added five boards and one steal. Graham chipped in one board and one assist. 
 
Jestin Porter led Clemson with 14 points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal. RJ Godfrey added 10 points, eight boards and one assist, while Carter Welling chipped in 12 points, seven boards, three assists and one blocked shot.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Alabama A&M (3-2) began the game 1-for-11 from the floor as Clemson jumped out to a 19-2 lead after a Zac Foster triple with 13:26 left in the opening half.
 
The Tigers (7-1) extended the lead to 32-7 after free throws by Porter with 9:42 left. 
 
The Bulldogs got a trey from Peyton Daniels Sr. and a jumper by Dozier, trimming the margin to 37-16, but back came Clemson, pushing the advantage to 41-16 with just under five minutes to play.
 
The Tigers outscored the Bulldogs, 11-5, over the final five minutes to take a 52-22 lead into the half.
 
Clemson pushed its lead to 57-24 after a three-point play by Dillon Hunter with 17:33 remaining and Alabama A&M could not recover from the huge deficit.

  • Alabama A&M shot 37.0 percent (20-of-54) from the floor and 70.6 percent (12-of-17) from the free-throw line
  • The Bulldogs grabbed 23 rebounds, with 20 coming on the defensive glass
