PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas | The Alabama A&M University women's soccer team could not recover from an early goal as the Bulldogs fell, 2-0, to Jackson State in the 2025 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Women's Soccer Tournament semifinals on Friday afternoon from the PVAMU Soccer Complex.
Jackson State (9-6-3) advances to the SWAC Women's Tournament Championship game and will meet either Grambling State or Alcorn State on Sunday. Alabama A&M concludes its season at 9-9-1.
Jackson State notched the opening goal in the third minute when Caylah Williams assisted on Ryanne Hawthorn-Harper's goal, giving the Tigers a quick 1-0 lead.
The Tigers nearly doubled the advantage in the 75
th minute as Williams' shot banged off the post, keeping the game at a one-score margin.
Alabama A&M's best change came in the 79
th minute off a free kick that hit the post and went out of play.
Jackson State put the game away in the 90
th minute when Malayah Nuestro assisted on Hawthorn-Harper's goal, pushing the lead to 2-0.
