THE HILL | Kai Cowcher picked up the lone win with a two-set victory as the Alabama A&M University men's tennis team suffered a 6-1 setback in its home opener on Saturday to Jacksonville State at the AAMU Tennis Courts.
Cowcher defeated Timo De Visser, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 1 singles to conclude the day.
Alabama A&M (0-3) dropped the doubles point as Jacksonville State (1-0) picked up victories at No. 2 and No. 3, sending the Gamecocks into singles play with a 1-0 lead.
Jacksonville State sealed the win with victories at No. 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
Alabama A&M returns to action on Sunday with a trip to Tuscaloosa to face Alabama. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
