THE HILL | Alabama A&M University Athletics has named men's tennis standout Mihnea Stanciu and women's volleyball standout Rayishon Jackman as the Dawgs of the Week, recognizing their outstanding performances for the Bulldogs.

Stanciu captured the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Fall Men's Singles Championship, while Jackman delivered a strong offensive and defensive performance for the Lady Bulldogs during the week.

Stanciu claimed the SWAC Fall Men's Singles Championship on Oct. 21, leading Alabama A&M to an all-Bulldog final against teammate Noah Koffi. Stanciu opened tournament play with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Mississippi Valley State's Julien Cordeau before earning a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win against Jackson State's Angel Hernandez in the semifinals.

In the championship match, Stanciu secured the title with a 6-1, 4-1 lead before the match concluded early, completing an impressive tournament run. His championship performance also earned him a spot in the ITA Conference Masters, scheduled for Nov. 5-8 in Rome, Georgia.

Jackman continued to make an impact for the Lady Bulldogs, recording 21 kills and 21 digs in Alabama A&M's four-set match against Alabama State on Oct. 21. Her all-around effort highlighted her ability to contribute on both sides of the net.

Earlier in the week, Jackman recorded eight kills, one service ace and 13 digs in Alabama A&M's 3-0 sweep of Jackson State on Oct. 16. She followed that performance with 10 kills, two service aces and nine digs in the Bulldogs' straight-set victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Oct. 25, helping Alabama A&M improve its conference record.

The Dawgs of the Week are selected weekly through a vote by the Alabama A&M athletic staff.
