CLARKSVILLE, TN. | Alabama A&M men's tennis opened its 2026 fall campaign with a strong three-day showing at the Brian Coons Fall Tournament, hosted by Austin Peay at the Governors Tennis Courts.
Alabama A&M opened tournament play Friday against host Austin Peay, earning two doubles victories and one singles win.
Rapheal Amkrah and Noah Koffi secured a 6-4 doubles victory followed by a 6-3 win from Goran Krivokapic and Mihnea Petru Stanciu.
Koffi highlighted singles action with a comeback victory. After dropping the opening set, 6-2, Koffi responded with a 6-4 win in the second before prevailing 13-11 in the deciding tiebreaker.
Stanciu and Lee also pushed their opponents to deciding frames. Stanciu rebounded from a 6-2 opening-set loss with a dominant 6-0 second set before falling 11-9 in the tiebreaker. Lee forced a deciding frame but was edged 10-8.
The Bulldogs returned to the court Saturday for their second day of competition, facing Tennessee Tech in singles and doubles action.
Alabama A&M saved its strongest performance for Sunday's finale against Chattanooga, collecting five singles victories and one doubles win. Amkrah claimed straight sets, 7-5, 6-4, while Lee posted a 6-2, 6-4 victory. Stanciu opened his match with a commanding 6-0 first-set victory. After dropping the second set, 6-4, Stanciu secured the match with an 11-9 win in the deciding tiebreaker.
Krivokapic also prevailed in three match sets. He claimed the opening set, 6-2, dropped the second, 6-4, and closed the match with a 10-7 victory.
Koffi earned his second singles win of the weekend before the second set being retired. Following a loss in the opening frame, 6-1, Koffi moved ahead 2-1 in the second.
In doubles play, Amkrah and Griffiths teamed up for a 6-4 victory over Chattanooga.Â
Alabama A&M finished the three-day tournament on a high note, earning six victories during Sunday's action and gaining valuable experience ahead of the remainder of its fall schedule.
