THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University men's basketball team returns to action seeking its first road win of the season as the Bulldogs visit Mississippi Valley State in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) contest on Saturday and conclude the two-game swing on Monday at Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Saturday's game at MVSU is scheduled for 6 p.m. from the R.W. Harrison HPER Complex and streamed on the Valley Sports Network, while Monday's game at Arkansas-Pine Bluff is set for 6 p.m. from the H.O. Clemmons Arena.
With seven games remaining in the regular season, the Bulldogs currently sit ninth in the SWAC standings.
Alabama A&M (7-17 overall, 3-8 SWAC) has a pair of streaks entering this weekend's matchups. The Bulldogs have dropped four straight since defeating Prairie View A&M on Jan. 27 and AAMU is also looking to end a nine-game road losing streak.
AAMU is coming off a 72-61 loss on Monday night at home to Grambling State. The Bulldogs had four players in double figures, led by
Lorenzo Downey's 15 points, but could not overcome multiple runs in the second half by the Tigers.
Alabama A&M is averaging 76.0 points per game and shooting nearly 40.8 percent from the field.
The Bulldogs rank second nationally in offensive rebounds per game, seventh in turnovers forced per game and 11
th in bench points.
AC Bryant leads two Bulldog players in double figures, averaging 14.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.3 steals, while
Chad Moodie has posted 11.3 points, 5.7 boards, 2.0 blocks and 1.3 steals per game.
Mississippi Valley State also enters the contest riding a two-game losing streak have picking up its lone conference win on Feb. 1 at Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
The Delta Devils are coming off an 86-39 road loss on Monday as MVSU trailed 44-16 to the Braves at halftime.
Donovan Sanders was the only player to post double figures, with 10 points as the Delta Devils shot 30.0 percent from the floor and 57.1 percent from the foul line in the loss.
Arthur Tate paces the MVSU offense by averaging 10.6 points and 3.0 rebounds per game, while Alvin Stredic is posting 9.7 points, 5.0 boards and 1.1 assists.
Mississippi Valley State is shooting 38.4 percent from the floor and averaging 53.1 points per game.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff will host Alabama State on Saturday but welcoming the Bulldogs to the H.O. Clemmons Arena on Monday.
After the road trip, Alabama A&M returns to the AAMU Event Center for its final two home games as the Bulldogs will play host to Bethune-Cookman on Senior Day (Feb. 24) and Florida A&M (Feb. 26).
