THE HILL | Alabama A&M University redshirt senior quarterback Cornelious Brown IV earned multiple weekly honors on Monday, including being selected the STATS Perform HBCU National Player of the Week.
 
Brown, who also earned Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Offensive Player of the Week and BOXTOROW HBCU National Co-Player of the Week honors, racked up 329 yards of total offense and was responsible for five touchdowns as the Bulldogs defeated Alcorn State 41-31 in the Louis Crews Classic.
 
The Birmingham, Ala., native completed 25-of-34 passes for 260 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions and rushed the ball seven times for 69 yards and two touchdowns. His seven-yard touchdown run with 2:43 remaining in the first quarter broke a 14-14 time and proved to be the game-winning score.
 
Alabama State's Lenore Jalil shared SWAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors with Matthew Cooks from Texas Southern. Jackson State's Gerardo Baeza and Quincy Ivory were selected SWAC Specialist and Newcomer of the Week accolades.
 
Alabama A&M returns to action on Saturday as the Bulldogs visit Tennessee State in the inaugural Legacy Series. Kickoff against the Tigers is set for 3:30 p.m. from Nissan Stadium and televised on ESPN+.
