BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama A&M University women's soccer senior defender Méghane St-Cyr has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Defensive Player of the Week following a strong performance in conference play.
St-Cyr helped lead the Bulldogs to a pair of victories last week, including a 3-1 comeback win over Prairie View A&M on October 22 and a dominant 5-0 shutout against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on October 25.
Against Prairie View A&M, St-Cyr scored the equalizing goal in the 76th minute off an assist from Kyleigh Ward, sparking Alabama A&M's three-goal second-half effort. The Bulldogs finished the contest with a 20-11 advantage in shots and a 9-3 edge in corner kicks.
St-Cyr continued her impact against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, opening the scoring in the 12th minute off an assist from Ja'Keyra Bryant. Alabama A&M went on to record a 5-0 victory, completing the road shutout and extending its momentum in conference play.
A native of Longueuil, Quebec, Canada, St-Cyr is a senior defender who has been a key contributor to the Bulldogs' back line. Her performances on both ends of the field helped Alabama A&M secure two important SWAC victories.
