BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama A&M University women's volleyball senior Molly Chappell has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Defensive Player of the Week following her defensive efforts in conference play.
Chappell played a key role in the Bulldogs' 3-0 sweep of Arkansas-Pine Bluff on October 25, leading Alabama A&M with 13 digs to help secure the conference victory.
The senior defensive specialist/libero provided a steady presence in the back row, helping the Bulldogs maintain control throughout the match. Her defensive contributions supported an Alabama A&M performance that featured a balanced attack and a strong showing on both sides of the net.Â
Chappell had a season high of 22 digs against Grambling State on October 23 along with four assists in that same game.Â
A native of Daytona Beach, Florida, Chappell transferred to Alabama A&M from Saint Leo and has continued to contribute to the Bulldogs' defensive unit during the 2026 season.
