THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University women's basketball team has earned a bid to compete in the 2026 Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT), marking another milestone in a historic season for the Bulldogs.
Alabama A&M (22-10) will face top seed Brigham Young University (22-11) on Thursday, March 19 in the opening round of the tournament. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ at the Marriott Center in Provo, Utah.
The WBIT is one of the premier postseason events in women's college basketball, featuring teams from across the country who have demonstrated strong performances throughout the season. The tournament provides programs an opportunity to continue postseason play while competing against high-level competition.
The Bulldogs, recording another 20+ win season in the Division I era, notched the number one seed position entering the 2026 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Women's Basketball Tournament. Alabama A&M knocked off Florida A&M in the quarterfinals before falling to Southern in the semifinals, 51-49.
The Bulldogs will enter postseason play with momentum following a strong showing in the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament, where multiple players delivered key performances that helped Alabama A&M remain competitive against the conference's top teams.
BYU defeated Houston in the opening round of the Big 12 Tournament and rival Utah in the second round before falling to top-seeded TCU in the quarterfinals.
Preliminary-round WBIT games will be televised on ESPN+, while the semifinals will air on ESPNU and the championship game will be broadcasted on ESPN2. Additional WBIT information can be found at ncaa.com/WBIT.
