PROVO, UT. | Alabama A&M women's basketball saw its postseason run come to an end with a 72-47 loss to BYU on Thursday night at the Marriott Center in Provo, Utah.
The Bulldogs 22-11 overall struck first and showed early energy, but BYU quickly settled in and used a strong first half to build separation. Alabama A&M trailed 20-13 after the opening quarter before the Cougars extended their lead to 39-23 at the break behind efficient shooting and transition scoring.
BYU continued to control the pace in the second half, pushing its advantage to as many as 23 points in the third quarter. Despite continued effort from the Bulldogs, the deficit proved too much to overcome.
Kalia Walker led Alabama A&M with a game-high 20 points, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc while adding two rebounds. Moses Davenport contributed a double-double with 10 points and a team-high 10 rebounds, anchoring the Bulldogs on the glass.
The Bulldogs also forced eight steals and recorded five blocks defensively.
