ATLANTA | Tickets for the 2026 Cricket MEAC/SWAC Challenge Kickoff will go on sale Monday, April 13, as the storied event begins its third decade as the premier HBCU kickoff game for college football fans. Launched in 2005, the Cricket MEAC/SWAC Challenge Kickoff has become one of the signature showcases of Black college football and one of the marquee opening-weekend events on the national calendar. 
 
The 2026 edition of the game will be played Saturday, Aug. 29 at 7:30 p.m. ET at historic Center Parc Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, and will air nationally in primetime on ABC. The Coca-Cola Fan Experience will begin at 3 p.m., with the gates opening at 6 p.m., and the 5th Quarter Battle of the Bands following the postgame presentation. 
 
This year's matchup will feature the Alabama A&M Bulldogs of the SWAC and the Howard Bison of the MEAC, who will meet for just the second time in program history. The event is the premier national-stage showcase to open the HBCU football season. The MEAC holds an 11-7 all-time advantage over the SWAC in the history of the Cricket MEAC/SWAC Challenge Kickoff.
 
With Atlanta set to host eight matches during the FIFA World Cup 2026 this summer, including a semifinal, the 2026 Cricket MEAC/SWAC Challenge Kickoff will stand as one of the city's first major college football showcases following the global event. The Aug. 29 primetime matchup at Center Parc Stadium offers another opportunity for Atlanta to welcome a national audience for a marquee sporting event.
 
Center Parc Stadium provides a historic backdrop worthy of the occasion. The venue site was originally built for the 1996 Summer Olympics, then converted into Turner Field, home of the Atlanta Braves from 1997 through 2016, before beginning its current chapter as the home of Georgia State football in 2017. 
 
In addition to tickets, hotel packages are also available for fans planning to make the trip to Atlanta, with the event website listing official event hotels and special room blocks for the weekend. 
 
The official press conference for the 2026 Cricket MEAC/SWAC Challenge Kickoff will be held July 16 at Center Parc Stadium.
