Brown, Williams Lead Alabama A&M to Legacy Series Victory

THE HILL | Cornelious Brown IV threw for 326 yards and three touchdowns, and Jarel Williams had 175 receiving yards as Alabama A&M defeated Tennessee State 30-3 Saturday night at Louis Crews Stadium for its second consecutive Legacy Series victory.
 
Brown completed his first 10 passes and finished 24 of 38 with one interception. Williams caught eight passes, including a 61-yard touchdown.
 
After an Alabama A&M punt, Tennessee State drove to the Bulldogs' 30-yard line, but Jeremiah Hudson-Davis intercepted Daylin Lee and returned possession to AAMU at its 15 with just under nine minutes left in the first quarter.
 
The Bulldogs (2-1) capitalized immediately. Brown found Williams down the left sideline for a 61-yard touchdown and a 7-0 lead with 8:36 remaining in the first quarter.
 
Following a Tennessee State punt, Brown connected with Jaylan Bean for 31 yards and capped the drive with a 30-yard touchdown pass to Donovan Price, pushing the lead to 14-0 with 3:17 left in the first quarter.
 
Tennessee State (0-3) answered after an AAMU punt, driving 58 yards in eight plays before stalling at the Bulldogs' 17. Preston Hurless kicked a 37-yard field goal to cut the deficit to 14-3 with 13:34 left in the second quarter.
 
On the next series, Brown took advantage of an offsides penalty and connected with Williams for 67 yards to the Tigers' 10. The Bulldogs settled for a 35-yard field goal by David Faulk to extend the lead to 17-3 with 8:35 remaining in the half.
 
Alabama A&M added another score before halftime, moving 59 yards in 14 plays. Faulk capped the drive with a 28-yard field goal for a 20-3 lead.
 
Ty'Jarian Williams broke a 46-yard run to put the Bulldogs in the red zone early in the fourth quarter. Four plays later, Brown found Bean for an 11-yard touchdown, extending the lead to 27-3 with 14:30 remaining.
 
Faulk added a 22-yard field goal after Alabama A&M reached the Tennessee State 4, accounting for the final margin with just over five minutes left.
