THE HILL | Alabama A&M battled Morehead State for 78 scoreless minutes before surrendering a late goal in a 1-0 setback Thursday afternoon at the AAMU Soccer Field.
The Bulldogs remained within striking distance throughout the match behind a strong performance from goalkeeper Adriana Durango and the AAMU defense. Durango recorded five saves, while the Bulldogs finished with six total stops.
Morehead State took seven shots and earned five corner kicks during the opening half. Alabama A&M's best opportunity before halftime came in the 37th minute when Jordyn Washington placed a shot on target, but the Eagles made the save to keep the match scoreless.
The Bulldogs created more opportunities after the break, recording three shots and two corner kicks. Anita Frederick-Sigaran sent an attempt high in the 55th minute before Brea Bailey and Charlotte Cuthbertson each placed shots on goal.
Alabama A&M finished with four shots, placing three on target. Washington, Bailey and Cuthbertson each recorded a shot on goal, while Frederick-Sigaran added one attempt. The Bulldogs held a 52-48 advantage in possession.
