A&M Suffers Tough 73-60 Loss to UAPB

Two players reached double figures

The Alabama A&M men's basketball team dropped a 73-60 decision to Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday night at Elmore Gym. Jonathan Inman tallied a game-best 19 points and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the floor as nine Bulldogs reached the scorers column. As a team, A&M shot 37.3 percent (22-for-59) from the floor. The Bulldogs will take to the road when it travels to Alabama State for a 6 p.m. tip.

Cornelius Hester had 13 points in 23 minutes of action for A&M. Reggie Porter and Desmond Jackson chipped in with seven points. John Smith grabbed a team-high seven boards.

The Golden Lions went into halftime with a comfortable 39-21 cushion. In the second half, UAPB led by as many as 15 points, 54-39, with 8:12 remaining in the game when Inman's basket sparked a Bulldog 10-3 run to slim the margin down to 57-49 with just under five minutes left in regulation. A&M could not break Pine Bluff's eight point advantage as the Lions handed the Bulldogs their sixth conference loss.

Alabama A&M falls to 5-6 in the SWAC and 7-12 overall. They will play at Alabama State on Feb. 14 beginning at 6 p.m.
