Alabama A&M's first half woes continued Monday as Southern built a 16-point lead by halftime and scored 50 points. Again, though, the Bulldogs rallied on to come up short, 81-72, in their fourth straight loss. The Bulldogs (7-15, 5-9) began the second half with a 19-5 run to pull within 55-53 with 11:52 left and then tied the game at 65 with 7:18 remaining, but could not take the lead despite 31 points from
Trant Simpson. Simpson also grabbed five rebounds and dished out four assists.
The Jaguars dominated the boards 32-22 and shot 52 percent from the field for the game. Alabama A&M shot 47 percent from the field, including 50 percent (8-16) from behind the three-point arc.
Jonathan Belt added 11 points and five rebounds for the Bulldogs, who return home for their final two home games on Saturday and Monday.
