Bulldogs Snap Skid; Abdullah Makes All-Tournament Team

The Bulldogs won their first game of the season against Rider

Volleyball captured its first win of the season against Rider University on Saturday Sept. 5 in the Great Eight Volleyball Challenge. Madinah Abdullah received All-Tournament honors for her performance. She recorded a total of 37 kills over three matches. The Bulldogs are back in action when they travel to Montgomery, Ala. for Alabama State's Invitational Tournament.

The Owls and the Bulldogs battled back and forth as they took each other to five sets for a match decision. Madinah Abdullah led the A&M offense with 17 kills, while Clarissa Moore added 14. Natalie Rodriguez assisted on 45-of-59 Bulldog kills. Corneille Rose controlled things on the defensive end with 21 digs.

Moore had 12 kills to lead the Bulldogs at the net. Lydia Adeosun went 7-for-13 for a .462 percentage. Corneille had 15 digs to lead A&M's defensive effort.

The Bulldogs dominated Rider in the first two sets. The Broncs rallied to win the third set, but A&M bounced back to win the fourth for its first win of the 09 campaign. Abdullah went 14-for-24 for a stellar .500 hitting percentage. Corneille had 14 digs for the Bulldog defense.

A&M will play in the Alabama State Invitational from Sept. 11-12 in Montgomery, Ala.
