Bulldogs Pull Out Third Victory

BOXSCORE

NORMAL
– In a game that saw the A&M Bulldogs down by 19 and four lead changes the Maroon and White once again found a way to win 75-70 over the Martin Methodist Redhawks Saturday night.

The Bulldogs (3-2) underestimated the (11-0) Redhawks as they jumped out by 19 with 5:57 remaining in the first half. Alabama A&M could not find the cylinder as they shot 12 of 31 from the field for 39%. The hot shooting Redhawks was 4 of 8 from the three-point line and 48% from the field.

Down 12 at the break A&M’s 24th year head coach rallied the troops to play better and take high percentage shots. The Bulldogs responded out-scoring Martin Methodist 40-23 in the second half. 24 of those points came in the paint, 15 was the result of turnovers and 18 came by way of the Maroon & White bench.

Guard Casey Cantey, who was 68 points shy of his 1000th before this contest, led the way with 16 and seven boards. The Demopolis, Alabama native needs 52 points to mark his spot in the record books. Forward DeMarquelle Tabb posted his first double double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Tabb was fouled hard by Martin Methodist’s Chris Legget but came back to finish his third contest in Elmore gymnasium.

Legget lead all players with 19 points in 38 minutes of action before being ejected for the intentional foul.

The Bulldogs will welcome Tennessee State University on Tuesday, December 7th in Elmore Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm.
