AAMU Defeats Lipscomb

Box Score Huntsville, AL - Whiquitta Tobar scored a game-high 22 points and made five steals to pace the Bulldogs (1-2) past Lipscomb (0-4).

"I think we came out with the intensity we needed to play and we worked on things we need to work on," the senior guard said. "So it was a good game."

Shundray Davis added 10 points. Nadra Robertson grabbed eight rebounds and blocked four shots. The Bulldogs outrebounded Lipscomb 44-39, forced 19 turnovers and led 46-22 at halftime.

"I think that the first half we came out and we followed our game plan," A&M coach Altherias Warmley said. "We wanted to attack them early and see how they would react. We wanted to be able to get to the free throw line.

"Overall I thought we played hard. We were able to get a couple of our younger players some experience."

She said her team needs to work harder on its transition defense. "We weren't able to control the ball like we wanted to. We allowed them too many easy baskets, free looks at the basket," Warmley said.

She was pleased with how the Bulldogs attacked the basket, were able to get a lot of looks in the paint, forced turnovers with their defense and won the battle of the boards. "But we've got to do a better job of boxing out on the free throw line," she added.

Anna Bowers scored 14 points and Hannah Phillips added 12 for Lipscomb. O'Neisha Smith had 11 rebounds.
