Lady Bulldogs Set for Road Test Against Alabama

THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University women's basketball team takes to the road for the first time this season on Thursday as the Lady Bulldogs travel to Tuscaloosa to take on the University of Alabama inside Coleman Coliseum. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. with the contest streaming live on SEC Network+.

The Lady Bulldogs will look to bounce back and gain momentum against an in-state opponent as they continue their early-season schedule. The matchup will provide Alabama A&M with an opportunity to compete against an SEC program while continuing to build chemistry and establish its identity under head coach Dawn Brown.

Alabama A&M (0-1) opened the 2026-27 regular season Monday against Talladega College, falling 59-53 at the AAMU Event Center. The Bulldogs battled throughout the contest, trailing by just one point entering the fourth quarter before the Tornadoes pulled away.

Bulldogs at a Glance

Alabama A&M was led by Shun'teria Anumele, who finished with 14 points, five assists and five steals against Talladega. Asianae Nicholson added 10 points and seven rebounds, while Skylar White contributed nine points. Vanessa Wimberly chipped in eight points.

The Lady Bulldogs finished the season opener shooting 31.5 percent from the field and recorded 30 rebounds and 14 steals. Alabama A&M will look to improve its offensive efficiency and take better care of the basketball as it prepares for Thursday's challenge.

Scouting Alabama

The Crimson Tide (1-0) enters Thursday's matchup following a 92-56 victory over Queens in its regular-season opener on November 2. Alabama showcased its offensive depth, with five players reaching double figures in the season-opening win.

Kylie Torrence led the Crimson Tide with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Ace Austin added 15 points and seven rebounds. Amirah Anderson contributed 14 points, and Aaliyah Roberson and Mykelle Richards each finished with 10 points.

Alabama controlled the paint, outscoring Queens 46-22 in that category, while also recording 54 rebounds and 23 assists. The Lady Bulldogs will need to focus on defensive communication, rebounding and limiting second-chance opportunities against the Crimson Tide.

Series History

Thursday's contest marks the 13th meeting between Alabama A&M and the University of Alabama, with the Crimson Tide holding the advantage in the all-time series.

The two programs last met on November 17, 2025, when Alabama secured a 66-43 victory in Tuscaloosa. The Lady Bulldogs will look to turn the page in the series and earn their first win against the Crimson Tide.
