A&M Takes on UAB


NORMAL - The Alabama A&M women's basketball team will travel to Birmingham to take on the Blazers of Alabama Birmingham in a special noon contest on Thursday, Dec 15.

A&M has been off since Dec. 3, but the Lady Bulldogs enter Thursday's matchup at 4-2, riding a four-game winning streak.

Their most recent win was a 62-40 victory over Stillman, while their only losses have come on road games against a pair of SEC foes in Vanderbilt and South Carolina. The winning streak includes victories over Lipscomb, Murray State and Tennessee Tech.

Whiquitta Tobar averages nearly a third of her team's scoring with 20.7 points per game, while Nadra Robertson nearly averages a double-double with 9.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per contest.

On the defensive end, the Lady Bulldogs are holding their opponents to an average of 57.7 points and 35 percent shooting.

UAB owns a 4-0 lead in the all-time series against Alabama A&M with all four previous meetings coming at Bartow Arena, as well.

Junior guard Amber Jones, who scored a career-high 25 points at UNCG, averages 15.8 points per contest to lead three Blazers in double-figures. Senior center Meagan Brown tops the team with 6.4 rebounds per game.

On Tuesday, December 19, the Lady Bulldogs will  travel to Tallahassee, Florida to challenge the Seminoles to a 10:00 a.m. tip-off.
