Normal - The Alabama A&M volleyball team swept theDevilettes of Mississippi Valley State University on Monday night in three games, in the T.M. Elmore Gymnasium.
Leslie Ekpe had an impressive performance, going 10-for-17 for a season-best .294 hitting percentage.
“My teammates motivated me more tonight,” statedEkpe. “We have gotten better in practice and winning at home to stay unbeaten is a big momentum.”
Bianca Richardson posted 11 kills to lead the Lady Bulldogs. Fellow teammates Mariah Brown and Clairissa Moore recorded nine each. Ashley Forman had a game high of 33 assists.
On the defensive side of the ball the Maroon and White collected a total of 43 digs. Rebecca Cortez recorded 15 of those while Richardson led the team with three blocks.
As a team, the Bulldogs ended with a .374 hitting percentage. A&M improves to 4-15 overall and 3-0 in the SWAC. MVSU falls to 3-8 on the season, including 0-1 in conference play.
“It’s feels great to be three and zero at home, but now we have to go on the road for the next five games.” head coach NedraBrown commented. “Our goal is to be six and zero in the conference and to secure a high seed going into post season play.”
Next up the Maroon & White will be on the road to take on the Albany State Rams on October 4, in Albany Ga. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
