JACKSON -- The last time these two teams met was in the 2011 SWAC Volleyball Championship, and this time it was home court advantage as the Lady Bulldogs fell to the defending champion Jackson State, 3-1 in Jackson, MS on Tuesday night.
JSU took the first two sets 25-19 and 25-21.
Head coach Nedra Brown commented, “We didn’t play well in the first two games and was able to win the third.”
After a brief intermission the Lady Bulldogs gained advantage in set three winning, 27-25.
Brown stated, “We pushed too much in the fourth to try and win and fell short. We have to play better beginning to end to be successful.”
A&M fell in the fourth set 25-22 to end the historic matchup.
Clairissa Moore led the Maroon and White with 17 kills with a hitting percentage of .278. Teammate Ashley Forman collected 31 assists in the game. Defensively, A&M was led by Rebecca Cortez who tallied 13 digs.
With the loss AAMU drops to 5-17, and 3-1 in conference play.
A&M will close out its five game road trip in Mississippi when they face Alcorn State on October 21st and close out at Mississippi Valley on the 22nd. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m.
