Women’s Volleyball drops two in Morehead State Tournament

Normal- The A&M women’s volleyball team lost two games today in the Comfort Inns & Suites Invitational hosted by Morehead State.

The Lady Bulldogs first took on the Purple Aces of the University of Evansville but came up short losing in three games 25-19, 25-19, and 25-12.

A&M posted 33 total kills on 85 attempts, with 17 coming in set one. The kill output in set one was the highest for the Lady Bulldogs during the 2012 campaign.

Clarissa Moore recorded a team high 13 kills. Junior, Ashley Forman, tallied 26 assists and eight digs to lead the team in both categories.

In match two, the Maroon & White was defeated by the University of Northern Kentucky, in what proved to be their closest contest thus far.

A&M went toe-to-toe with the Norse’s 25-20, 28-26, & 25-22 to fall to 0-6 on the season.

Seniors Clarissa Moore and Mariah Brown led the way with 13 and 8 kills respectively.

Leading the way defensively for the Lady Bulldogs was freshman Kyanna Sales of Huntsville, Alabama. Sales tallied 11 digs in three sets, followed by junior setter Ashley Forman with 10.

AAMU closes out the two-day event Saturday with a match against tournament host Morehead State. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m. EST.
