A&M Falls to Memphis

MEMPHIS –The Alabama A&M volleyball team went into day two of Tiger Invitational at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse on the University of Memphis campus, falling to the tournament host in three sets, 25-18, 25-19, and 25-23.

Leslie Ekpe led the Maroon and White with seven kills while attempting 10 attacks. Bianca Richardson and Clairissa Moore each had six kills on the day. Ashley Forman handed out 27 assists with one dig.

As a team the Lady Bulldogs tallied 30 kills on 83 attempts with a .229 hitting percentage. Defensively A&M had 29 digs and 21 block assists.


"The student-athletes played tough especially against Memphis," said head coach Nedra Brown.  "There were some tough competitive matches that took place and we are still working on getting better.  We have to find one of our freshman to step up for us and make a contributuion to help us turn the corner."

Ekpe was name to the All-Tournament team.

The Lady Bulldogs will hit the road again when they travel to Martin, Tenn. to take on Tennessee-Martin on Tuesday, September 18th at 6 p.m.
