Basketball teams set for Arkansas-Pine Bluff

NORMAL - The Alabama A&M men’s and women’s basketball team will face the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Tuesday, January 8that 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Alabama A&M enters Tuesday’s night contest with a 6-8 mark, but are 2-1 in conference play.

The Bulldogs average 64.1 points per game and are paced by junior Demarquelle Tabb with 12.4 points-per-game.  Defensively he has a team-high 24 blocks, 19 steals and leads the team in rebounds with nine per contest.

Junior Jeremy Crutcher averages a near double-double on the year with 11.5 points and 8.6 assists. Crutcher has a team high 73 assists this season.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff earned their third win of the year with a 73-58 victory over Alabama State Sunday evening.  They are led by Terrell Kennedy who is averaging 12.4 points while Davon Haynes leads in the rebounding category with 6.6 rebounds a game.

The women’s team has been led Shundray Davis who is averaging 8.7 points a game. In the 13 contests, Davis has been the second leading scorer.

As a team A&M is 4-9 overall, 3-0 in the SWAC and averages 57.5 points per game while allowing 70.

The Altherias Warmley led squad is shooting 37 percent from the field, 23 percent from the three point line and 68% from the charity stripe.

The Lady Lions defeated the Lady Hornets 68-63 to maintain their fifth place standing in the SWAC conference in their latest outing.  Wright Cassidy leads the team with 11.4 points a game.
