Volleyball steps out of conference play

After opening the first half of its Southwestern Athletic Conference schedule with an 3-0 record, the Alabama A&M (4-14) volleyball team steps out of conference action and travels to South Carolina State (4-14) Tuesday, October 15, to take on the Lady Bulldogs (2-17) at 6 p.m. in Dukes Gymnasium.

The Lady Bulldogs continue to be led by Leslie Ekpe, Ashley Forman, and Rebecca Cortez. Ekpe is currently leading A&M in kills per game (2.93) and second on the team in blocks (0.55). Forman leads the SWAC and the team in assists per game (7.82) while Cortez leads A&M in the digs category with 2.69 per game.

SC State is led by senior Desire Waller who was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week.

Waller finished with 46 kills, 22 digs, five assists and two blocks. She recorded a double-double in kills and digs in matches against North Carolina A&T and North Carolina Central.

Aiming for a victory, Nedra Brown will look for her 100th career win as head coach in her seven years at A&M.
