Volleyball welcomes UAB to Elmore

Normal - AAMU volleyball will be back in action this weekend when they face the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Sunday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.

The Lady Bulldogs will welcome non-conference opponent the University of Alabama-Birmingham for the 11^th time in their playing series. UAB comes into this weekend's match with a 9-1 lead in their meetings. In their last meeting, UAB defeated Alabama A&M 3-0 on Oct. 9, 2012.

The Maroon & White cruised into their fifth win of the season by defeating the Albany State University Rams in four sets in their last outing.

They were paced by Savannah Blackiston with a game high 13 kills, while teammate Leslie Ekpe recorded 10. Rebecca Cortez posted 18 digs on the night for a match high, while senior Ashley Forman led A&M with 33 assists.

On the year A&M is led by Leslie Ekpe with 140 kills for an average of 2.06 per set.

The win marked head coach Nedra Brown's 100^th victory after seven years as the leader of the volleyball program.
