Lady Bulldogs Fall Short at Jackson State, 3-2

Box Score NORMAL - In a match that lasted two hours and 23 minutes, the Alabama A&M women' s volleyball team fell to Jackson State in five games (25-21, 18-25, 25-21, 27-29, 6-15) Wednesday night in Jackson, Miss., at the Lee E. Williams Athletic Assembly Center.

Savannah Blackiston led the Lady Bulldogs with a team-high 13 kills, whereas Leslie Ekpe recorded 10 kills and five block assists on the night. Robin Hancock and Maria Ramos each posted seven kills against Jackson State, while rookie Ashundria McNeal ended the night with five kills along with four blocks.

Junior libero Rebecca Cortez led the Lady Bulldogs defense, recording 13 digs on the night. Senior setter Ashley Forman recorded her seventh double-double of the season, posting 34 assists and 12 digs, in addition Ramos recorded eight digs against JSU.

Jackson State opened the deciding match on a 7-1 run and closed the fifth set by winning six of the last seven points to win the final game, 15-6.

The Maroon and White will return to action on November, 7 with a rematch with in-state rival, the Lady Hornets of Alabama State, in Montgomery, Ala. First volley is set for 7:00 p.m.
