Women's Basketball Heads to Eastern Kentucky

NORMAL - The Alabama A&M women's basketball team will play its first road game of the 2013-14 season on Thursday, November 14, when they face the Lady Colonels at 7:00 p.m. at the McBrayer Arena, in Richmond Kentucky.

AAMU (0-1) opened the season with Southeast Missouri State, but fell 76-64 at home. Senior Jasmine Sanders started the season off where she left off with 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Alabama A&M shot 38 percent from the field and 47 percent from 3-point range. The Maroon and White averages eight 3-pointers per game with five different players hitting at least two this season. The defense forces 14 turnovers per game earning 11.8 steals while blocking 3.0 shots per game.

EKU's (1-1) loss came by way of a Rachel Mendelsohn's three-pointer with two seconds on the clock lifted host Kent State past the Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team, 75-74, in overtime on Sunday afternoon at the M.A.C. Center.

Eastern Kentucky's Marie Carpenter finished with 26 points a game high.
