Volleyball claims sole possession of second place

NORMAL – Leslie Ekpe led the Lady Bulldogs with 10 kills and seven blocks on the evening. Ekpe's hitting percentage was .263 versus Valley. The senior leader also scored the winning points for the Maroon and White at the end of games one and two.

Mississippi Valley came out strong in the third set tying the score at six all. After an attack error by A&M's Kyanna Sales, the Devilettes took their first lead of the match, 7-6. Both teams traded points to even the game at eight all. From there A&M took control and won game three and the match 25-17.

Ashundria McNeal came alive with seven kills on 13 attempts. McNeal had a blistering .598 hitting percentage and four blocks. Teammate Ashley Forman spread the ball around which got her 30 assists on the night.

As a team the Lady Bulldogs collected 39 kills on 105 attempts in the game.

On the defensive side of the ball the Maroon and White collected a total of 41 digs. Rebecca Cortez recorded nine of those.

The Lady Bulldogs ended with a .212 hitting percentage. A&M improves to 7-19 overall and 4-3 in the SWAC. MVSU falls to 9-18 on the season, including 3-4 in conference play.

Next up A&M will welcome the Lady Braves of Alcorn State on Friday, November 15th. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
