Women's Basketball Defeats Concordia 82-50 in Exhibition Action

NORMAL - Jasmine Sanders scored a game-high 16 points, and Shabr'an Richardson added 11 and seven rebounds as Alabama A&M held off the Lady Hornets of Concordia College, 82-50, in an exhibition contest at the T.M. Elmore Gymnasium Monday night.

It was A&M's only exhibition game of the pre-season in preparation for their season opener against Southeast Missouri, in Normal on Friday, Nov 8.

AAMU used a tight defense to force Concordia to turn the ball over 13 times. A&M scored 12 points off those turnovers.

Sanders, a 5-8 senior from Chester, South Carolina, scored 16 points all in the first half, as A&M opened a 43-18 lead at intermission.

To open up the second half, Taylor Sippial scored four-straight baskets, converting on back to back jumpers, putting
the Maroon and White up 52-24.

Freshman Alasha Foster was also explosive on offense, scoring eight points against the Lady Hornets. Both Ebony Johnson and Alyssa Strickland scored eight points each, while Johnson led the Maroon and White on the glass, grabbing eight boards.

A&M will open the season at home, with a 7 p.m. tip-off, Friday, November 8.
