Volleyball Falls to Tennessee State, 3-0

Box Score NASHVILLE - Senior Leslie Ekpe and junior Savannah Blackiston had eight and seven kills apiece but it was not enough as the Alabama A&M volleyball team (0-11) fell to Tennessee State (2-5), 3-0 (16-25, 15-25, and 19-25) in front of 412 fans at Kean Hall on Tuesday night.
Ekpe led the team hitting .235 on the night as she recorded her most kills since the season-opener. She also accounted for five total blocks. The Lady Bulldogs accounted for a hitting percentage of .187 on the night.
Blackiston hit .200 as teammate Kyanna Sales collected six kills on the evening. Ashley Forman had 27 assists, three kills and three digs while Callie Percival led the way with seven digs.
The first set was all Tennessee State as the Tigers raced out to a 6-3 lead and never looked back. A&M made it a 6-4 score but that was as close as it would be. TSU ran off 10 of the next 12 points to open up a 17-10 lead. The Tigers went on to win 25-16 as Alabama A&M hit just .207 and had ten kills.
The second set was close throughout, but the Lady Bulldogs never led. TSU raced out to an early three-point lead at 8-5.
Tennessee State led for most of the third set as the Lady Bulldogs cut the lead to four 8-4. A&M got as close as five points, but TSU went on to win 25-19 and took the match in three sets.
Up next the Lady Bulldogs will participate in the College of Charleston Tournament this weekend.
