Volleyball Drops Three at College of Charleston

Box Score CHARLESTON, S. C. – The College of Charleston (9-2) started the Holiday Inn Classic tournament with the Lady Bulldogs of Alabama A&M.

A&M fell in three games (25-10, 25-7, and 25-14) to College of Charleston on Friday afternoon. With the defeat, A&M drops to 0-12 on the year.

AAMU hit -.011 as a team, only making 22 kills, while converting one service ace.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by Ashundria McNeal who had seven kills in the match and hit .267 while Leslie Ekpe had five kills. Three Maroon & White players Savanna Blackiston, Callie Percival, and Maria Ramos all had three kills respectively. Ashley Forman ran the offense, posting 14 assists on the night while Kyanna Sales led the team defensively with four digs.

At the net, McNeal and Blackiston each recorded a block.

The Cougars were never threatened in any set as they built a 12-1 lead in the first, a 13-5 lead in the second and a 15-6 lead in the third set. Cara Howley led the charge with a match-high nine kills.

A&M stayed with the Cougars throughout the second set, never trailing by more than three until CC put up a five-point lead, 10-5, on a Cougar kill.

The Maroon and White will regroup and take on UNC Ashville on Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
