TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | The Alabama A&M University volleyball team saw its run in the 2025 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Volleyball Tournament come to an end on Saturday as the Bulldogs fell to Florida A&M, 3-1, at the Al Lawson Center.
Florida A&M, the tournament's eighth seed, advances to Sunday's championship match against the winner of Alabama State/Southern at 1:30 p.m. (central) at the Al Lawson Center, with the match streamed on SWAC TV. The Bulldogs were seeking their first trip to the championship match since 2018. Alabama A&M concludes its season at 19-12.
Alabama A&M outlasted Florida A&M in the opening set, 27-25, but the Rattlers bounced back in the second (25-20), tying the match 1. Florida A&M captured the third set, 25-21, and won the match in the fourth, 25-17.
Alabama A&M finished with 52 kills, 59 digs, 50 assists, 11.0 total team blocks and six service aces.
Rayishon Jackman posted a double-double of 18 digs and 13 kills, while
Fatima Ramirez added 13 kills.
Nisaan Martinez recorded 11 kills and three digs.
Briana Smith and
Kaydee Smith handed out 22 and 20 assists, respectively. Defensively,
Kelani Talakai registered 18 digs and
Kemora Coachman chipped in 11.
Florida A&M finished with 55 kills, 63 digs, 53 assists, 10.0 total team blocks and nine service aces.
LaDonna Trantham led the Rattlers with a double-doubled of 21 kills and 11 digs and Sydney Whitfield recorded 13 kills and 11 digs. Farah Farooq tallied 10 kills. Makenzie Taylor dished out 50 assists, along with 11 digs. Sydney Humes also recorded 10 digs.
