Men's Tennis falls in season opener

Boxscore

Tuscaloosa – The A&M men's tennis team took on the No. 33 ranked Crimson Tide at the Roberta Alison Baumgardner indoor tennis facility. This was the first time the teams had faced each other in school history.

The Maroon & White took their first loss of the season at the hands of the Crimson Tide who made a clean sweep winning 5-0.

The lone returning player Dominique Alexander was caught off guard by the explosive play of UA's Hayes Brewer. But in the second match Alexander showed his stamina as the number one player for the Bulldogs.  The senior held a one point lead at one point and battled throughout the contest but was unable to hold out for the victory.

Newcomer Farai Chiridza also made a contest of his match going point for point with UA's number four player Brian Conlon.  The two traded points in both matches but Chiridza, who has been bothered by a nagging leg injury, was unable to close out his game falling 6-4 and 6-4.

The Maroon & White will look to bounce back Feb 1st as they hit the road to Auburn, Ala. to take on the Tigers.
