A&M Returns Home to Face Texas Southern

Gamenotes

NORMAL - The Bulldogs return home from a two-game road trip to host Texas Southern at 6:00 p.m., Saturday night in the T.M. Elmore Gymnasium.

A&M (6-11, 3-4 SWAC) is looking to snap a three-game losing streak in Saturday's contest. The Bulldogs are 2-2 at home this season.

AAMU continues to play solid defense early in the season. They rank second in the SWAC in field goal percentage defense (41.1 pct.) and fourth in scoring defense (69.4 ppg).

The Maroon & White has held seven of its 15 opponents under 40 percent from the field, and only three teams have scored 70 points or more.

Texas Southern's (9-10, 5-2) Aaric Murray scored 34 points, including four of his final six points to lead TSU past Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 72-71, on Monday at the H&PE Arena.

Madarious Gibbs converted two game-winning free throws with 1:09 remaining to complete Texas Southern's rally as Arkansas-Pine Bluff missed a total of three shots during the closing seconds of the contest. Murray was the lone TSU player to score in double figures for the Tigers en route to another impressive performance.

Offensively, A&M is averaging 62.5 points a game, and has shot 50 percent or better from the floor six times, including each of the last two games.

Two Bulldogs are averaging double figures in scoring, led by 6-8 senior Demarquelle Tabb, who is scoring 10.1 points per game and grabbing 6.6 rebounds per game, while Jeremy Crutcher, a 5-8 senior, averages 12.6 per game.
