Men's Basketball falls in Pine Bluff

PINE BLUFF – Head coach Willie Hayes was proud of his team shooting a season high 52 percent connecting on 13 of 25 from the field for 41 points in the first half. The Golden Lions would then use the advantage of home court going 11 of 19 from the free-throw line in the second half to grab a 64-61 win.
 
Senior guard Jeremy Crutcher posted 20 points, eight steals, three rebounds and two assists. This was the Hazel Green native's second time this season and fifth in his career in the 20 plus point category. Sophomore Tyler Davis put up 14 points and a pair of assists.
 
Arkansas-Pine Bluff's Marcel Mosley led the Lions with 20 points and six rebounds.  Tevin Hammond and Daniel Broughton added 11 each.
 
A&M shot 9 of 11 from the charity stripe for a season high 82% in the first.  They enjoyed their first lead of the game at the 4:08 mark with a Justan Banks free throw. This was the second of two with Banks finishing 2-2 from the line.  They then used a 13-8 run to take a 41-28 halftime lead.
 
The second half would favor the home team as they went to the free-throw line 19 times with the Golden Lions connecting on 11 opportunities. They would also shoot 42 percent from the field.
 
A&M went perfect from the line on their six occasions. They would finish the game with 20 fouls with 11 of those coming in the second half.
 
Pine Bluff would go on to a 29-20 second half run that saw them grabbed their third win a row.
 
For the game the Bulldogs won the points off turnovers battle 24-21, bench points tussle 28-14 and tied 24-24 with UAPB in points in the paint.
 
Next up, a date with the Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley State University on Monday, Feb. 10, at 7:30 p.m.
