Bulldogs end season with an 80-63 win over Grambling

NORMAL – Head coach Willie Hayes and the Bulldogs opened the game versus Grambling State on a 9-0 run before the Tigers were able to score their first point of the contest.
 
From that point A&M controlled the tempo and atmosphere on senior night in Elmore gymnasium grabbing their 13th win of the season for the most victories in coach Hayes career and 10th conference win.
 
The Tigers would cut the lead multiple times but A&M responded in each occasion with a scoring spurt to extend their advantage.
 
By the end of the first half the Maroon & White enjoyed a 40-29 lead. The first ended with Brandon Ellis hitting his third 3-pointer of the contest leading A&M with 11 points. Justan Banks scored 10 points by half-time and pulled in six rebounds.
 
AAMU won the points in the paint battle (18-12), points off turnovers (10-0), second chance points (9-0), and bench scores (12-2).
 
The second half would be much of the same for Alabama A&M on their way to their second straight victory.
 
A&M would go on to outscore GSU 40-34 in the second half. They would enjoy a 22 point lead before ending the game shooting 52 percent on 31 of 60 from the field. A&M also went 9 of 18 from the three-point line for 50%.
 
Banks ended the game with his second double double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds.  Jeremy Crutcher scored 13 points while Brandon Ellis led A&M with 16 going 4-4 from distance.
 
Steven Danridge posted a double double for the Tigers with 10 points and 13 rebounds.  A'Torri Shine and Antwan Scott each recorded 16.

Justan Banks, Arthur Capers, Jeremy Crutcher, Brandon Ellis, G. A. Hill and Demarquelle Tabb all participated in their final home game of their career tonight.
 
The Bulldogs will await their next opponent as they prepare for the SWAC post season tournament which will be held in Houston, Texas at the Toyota Center from March 11-15.
