Story Links

HUNTSVILLE -- The Lady Bulldogs kicked off the athletics contribution to Homecoming on Friday as they unleashed a barrage of shots unparalleled by the team this season.

In fact, their 31 shots is the most in six seasons as they rolled to a 4-0 win over Grambling State. The Lady Bulldogs had a school record 20 shots on goal in the as Fatmata Mansaray, Margret Sesay and Estelle Esperance each had four shots on goal.

On the other end of the field, the Lady Bulldogs' defense did not allow Grambling any shots helping goalkeeper Alexandra Desgagne post her second shutout of the season and her third straight game of giving up two goals or less.

Mansary got A&M off to a quick shot when her chip shot went over the head of Grambling goalkeeperJennifer LeSage and into the net with 5:27 gone. It was Mansaray's second goal and fifth point in seven games.

Sesay ran the count to 2-0 when she redirected a crossing pass from Esperance at the 36:43 mark of the game. The goal was Sesay's second this season.

Esperance scored her third goal of the year and the Lady Bulldogs' third goal of the game at 59:26. After taking a pass from Andrea Chacon, Esperance fired a shot that deflected off a Grambling defender and into the net.

Alexus Lawson scored her first goal as a Lady Bulldog when she one-timed a pass from Esperance at the 67:57 mark and the final 4-0 score.

The Lady Bulldogs (1-2 SWAC, 2-10 overall) return to action Sunday when Arkansas-Pine Bluff visits The Hill for a 1 p.m. match.
