Bulldogs hang tough in loss at Bowling Green State

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The Bulldogs had a short bench Thursday but got just about every ounce of effort in a 74-61 loss at Bowling Green State.

Quinterian McConico, the current SWAC Player of the Week, stepped up with his second-straight double-double as he led both teams with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Rakiya Battle had a game-high seven assists and added eight rebounds and De'Ederick Petty scored 14 points with six rebounds.

The Bulldogs, with just nine healthy players on the trip, trailed 21-16 midway through the first half, before going on a 10-2 run to take a 26-23 lead with about four minutes to play.

After a timeout, Bowling Green responded with 15-4 run to close out the half with a 38-30 lead.

The Falcons, 5-7, opened the second half with an 14-3 run and a 52-33 lead with 15 minutes to go in the game.

Over the next five minutes, the Bulldogs battled back to cut the BGSU lead to 56-47 but couldn't get any closer.

A&M, 0-10, returns to action Dec. 29 at Western Michigan. Tipoff is 6 p.m. Central time.
