Texas Southern rallies to beat Lady Bulldogs

HOUSTON, Texas -- Texas Southern scored a pair of late first-half goals to beat Alabama A&M 2-1 on Friday.

The match was the SWAC opener for each team.

The Lady Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead at the 11:45 mark of the first half on Estelle Esperance's second goal of the season.

Esperance took a crossing pass from Andrea Chacon and put the ball past the Texas Southern goalkeeper for the early lead.

But the Lady Tigers roared back with a game-tying goal at 31:02 of the half and the game-winner about 8 1/2 minutes later.

A&M goalkeeper Alexandra Desgagne had four saves while the Lady Bulldogs had shots on goal from Esperance, Fatmata Mansaray and Alexus Lawson.

The Lady Bulldogs travel to Prairie View to take on the Panthers on Sunday.
