Lady Bulldogs blank UAH for first win of season

Box Score HUNTSVILLE -- The Lady Bulldogs' scored their first goal of the season and it turned out to be enough in a 1-0 win Sunday over UAH.

The win was the first of the season for Alabama A&M and the third win in the all-time series between the two crosstown schools. UAH leads the series 4-3.

Estelle Esperance scored the game's lone goal at 9:01 of the first half. Taking a pass from Andrea Chacon, Esperance fired a shot from the right side into the upper left corner of the goal.

Goalkeeper Alexandra Desgagne turned away all three UAH shots on goal to pick up her first career win and shutout. The Lady Chargers outshot A&M 15-13 but each team had three shots on goal.

Esperance had a season-high six shots with two on goal.

The Lady Bulldogs return to action Sept. 11 at Austin Peay.
