HUNTSVILLE--- The Alabama A&M Lady Bulldogs volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (25-17, 25-22,25-19) sweep against Alabama State on Thursday evening in Elmore Gym.
After the loss, the Lady Bulldogs fell to 7-14 overall and 7-1 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Alabama State improved to 15-7 overall and 8-0 in league play.
The Lady Hornets hit at a .154 percentage in the first set in route to a match total of .211. The Lady Bulldogs struggled to find offensive efficiency as they totaled an attacking percentage of .102. AAMU out-blocked ASU 2.0 to 8.0.
Courtney Oliver and Mikel Coleman led the attacking with six kills each, respectively, while Meredith Sieck dished out 13 assists to direct the offense.
The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Jackson, Miss. Sun., Oct. 8 to face Jackson State and then they will return to T.M. Elmore Gymnasium Tues., Oct. 10 as they host Jacksonville State at 7 p.m.

1st Set | ALST 25, AAMU 17
Alabama State jumped out to a quick 7-4 lead before the Lady Bulldogs battled back to take a 10-9 lead. From that point, the two teams would continue to trade points before the Lady Hornets went on a 10-6 run to build their lead to 19-17. Alabama State would close out the set down the stretch, claiming a 25-17 set win.
2nd Set | ALST 25, AAMU 22
The Lady Bulldogs started off strong offensively with an early 12-7 lead. AAMU would continue to extend their lead before the Lady Hornets would battle back to cut the deficit to two at 17-15. With the set tied 17-17, the Lady Hornets used a 8-5 run to claw back to clinch a 25-22 set win and a 2-0 lead in the match.
3rd Set | ALST 25, AAMU 19
The third set turned out to be a close set for the majority of the match with a total of seven ties and three lead changes. With the set tied 11-11, the Lady Hornets used a 10-2 run to extend out to a 22-13 lead. From there, the Lady Bulldogs fought back to cut the deficit to 23-18 after a 5-1 run, but failed to put enough points on the board as Alabama State claimed a 25-19 set win and a 3-0 sweep in the match to claim the match.
